Industrial progress comes thanks to revolutionary spirit, self-confidence of youth: MSC chief

The managing director of Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC) as well as the staff members of the steel giant and their families took part in a rally Monday (February 11, 2019) along with people from different walks of life to mark the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution and throw their weight behind its cause.
In an interview with the correspondent of Steel Newsletter during the rally, Hamidreza Azimian offered congratulations on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution –40 years ago – and said MSC is a product of the revolution. “Our country owes its industrial progress to the revolutionary spirit and self-confidence of the youth.”
He said over the past four decades the country's steel industry has posted a lot of qualitative and quantitative progress. “Before the revolution, Iran used to import 4 million tons of steel on an annual basis. Now roughly 8 million tons of steel is exported to global markets.”
He went on to say in pre-revolution Iran, Esfahan Steel Company was the only steelmaker in the country with an annual output of 600 thousand tons. Today national production stands at 25 million tons, with installed capacity hovering above 32 million tons, he added.
In conclusion, he said a comparison of past and present figures shows that thanks to the Islamic Revolution, steel production in the country has posted a 40-fold increase and that the country no longer needs to import general-use steel or several special products.
