MSC’s CE-MARKING certificate extended
Mobarakeh Steel Company’s CE-MARKING certificate for structural steel was extended by an authorized European certifier institute after conducting surveillance audits.
The official in charge of technical support for customers at Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC) said that countries in the modern world take measures to ease their trade transactions, cut or remove trade barriers such as tariffs, and introduce control mechanisms to guarantee the quality of imported goods. “This way they can support the locally made quality goods and protect the health, safety, hygiene and other rights of society and consumers. To that end, EU nations have taken measures to formulate their own special control mechanisms so that they can make sure quality goods which are in conformity with European standards are imported to their countries.
Tadayon said Mobarakeh Steel Company, which is Iran’s biggest steelmaker, has made its presence felt in national, regional and European markets, adding MSC has complied with national and international standards, and taken measures to obtain quality certificates and signs designed for exports to its target markets.
He said, “Over the past two years standard and quality experts involved in Iran’s steel industry have tried to design a comprehensive quality assessment model for steel, known as IR-MARKING, by carrying out extensive studies and holding various seminars in cooperation with Isfahan University of Technology, Iran Steel Research Center, Iran Steel Producers Association, and the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI).
The official said CE-MARKING in fact serves as a passport for products to be imported to EU countries, adding other countries have followed the example of the European Union to design similar models and standards. India’s BIS and Thailand’s TAI are examples of such standards, he said.
In conclusion, he said that if this model becomes operational in Iran, it can play an effective role in standardization of construction materials and structures, and prevent natural disasters from wreaking havoc in the country.
