MSC has been very successful in promotion of sports: Sport minister


Minister of Sport and Youth Masoud Soltanifar, Ph.D., who was in Isfahan Province to inaugurate a number of sport projects to mark the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, went on an inspection tour of Mobarakeh Steel Company production lines and discussed with MSC managing director and his deputies ways of giving the steel giant a bigger role to play in promoting sports in the central province.
Accompanying the sports chief on this tour were Zahra Saeedi, a deputy who represents Mobarakeh in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, and a host of provincial officials.
Following the inspection tour, in an interview with the Steel Newsletter Correspondent, the sport minister thanked MSC for its efforts when it comes to social responsibilities and said industries, in parallel with their role in production, play a part in social issues. “One of the plants that has been very successful in promoting sports is Mobarakeh Steel Company. The case in point, it has a sports club that is very active and successful in several disciplines.”
Recalling the great performance of the club in different sport disciplines, he said Sepahan Football Club is a third powerhouse in the country's premier league.
The sport minister expressed pleasure over the performance of MSC when it came to building sports arenas and said as part of a project that got underway several years ago, his ministry in cooperation with MSC partially inaugurated Naghsh-e Jahan Stadium. In a recent meeting, the two sides hashed out what remains to be done for the full inauguration of the project.”
He said based on those talks and legal frameworks, MSC will be entrusted with the completion of the project and operations of the stadium.
In conclusion, he hailed the measures MSC has taken to promote sports and underlined closer attention to basic sports, adding Sepahan Sports Club can invest in such sports and by doing so promote sports and generate revenues.
Meanwhile, the MSC vice president for projects said the minister of sport and youth has put forth a proposal to hand over Naghsh-e Jahan Stadium, in its entirety, to MSC. “We are studying the proposal in line with MSC's policy of rendering more and more services to young sportsmen and women. MSC will study the requirements of such takeover before announcing its final decision.”
Ahmad Saeedbakhsh went on to say that the Ministry of Sport and Youth has suggested that the second floor of the stadium be completed by Mobarakeh Steel Company as soon as possible and that proportionate to the volume of investment the number of operation years increase.
