A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck the border region between Iraq and Iran on November 12. Following the killer earthquake, senior management and staff at Mobarakeh Steel Group joined people from different walks of life across the country to rush aid, in cash and in kind, to the stricken areas and sympathize with survivors. According to the correspondent of Steel Newsletter, Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC) has sent a first aid consignment – thirteen truckloads of basic items, including 5,000 blankets, 4,360 pieces of clothing, 15,000 packs of bottled water, canned food (20,000), and 20,000 loaves of bread – to the quake-hit regions.
MSC vice-president for Human Resources extended condolences to the bereaved families and said managers and staff at Mobarakeh Steel Company – which plays a key role in the country’s social development drive in addition to focusing on economic activities – have expressed sympathy with people bearing the brunt of the killer tremor in western Iran and voiced readiness to send more relief items to the quake-hit areas.
Ayaz Esmaeli further said that swift measures were taken in cooperation with the Crisis Headquarters of Isfahan Province in the shortest time possible to collect the basic items the quake victims direly need.
The official went on to say that MSC managers and staff are also ready to dedicate part of their salaries to efforts to help quake-hit people and added in light of the fact that MSC staff have always led the way when it comes to charitable donations, the company has set the stage for them to do their part this time around.
It should be noted that Hormozgan Steel Company and Sangan Iron Ore Mines Company joined MSC Group in rushing aid to western Iran.
In coordination with Isfahan Provincial Red Crescent Society, the staff at Hormozgan Steel Company donated blood and sent their aid – 1,000 blankets, 500 tents, 5,000 food cans and 2,000 pieces of clothing – to people in western Iran.
Staff at Sangan Iron Ore Mines Company allocated part of their monthly wages to those affected by the powerful quake in sympathy with the stricken people and in a bid to undertake their human responsibility.
