Production of sheets designed for LPG tankers at MSC

Gholamreza Javanmardi, the manager of MSC’s Metallurgy and Manufacturing Methods, has said that Mobarakeh Steel Company has successfully mass-produced P460NJ2 steel sheets which measure up to AFNOR [the French national organization for standardization] standards – used in high-strength micro-alloyed steels. He added these sheets are used in production of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) tankers.
He further said MSC produced about 1,000 tons of these sheets which are 9-10 and 12 mm in thickness. “After production, the sheets were handed over to Orum Trailer Company which successfully took care of the remaining development processes such as forming, weldability and functional testing. Thanks to the high quality of the sheets produced by MSC, Orum Trailer could secure a standard certificate for producing LPG tankers and storing and distributing liquefied gas.”
Pointing to the growing, constant demand for special steel sheets by manufacturers of LPG tankers and other industries in the country, Javanmardi said thanks to tireless efforts by the management and personnel of Mobarakeh Steel Company and the upgrade of the knowhow and technology of producing alloy sheets in MSC, we hope to achieve more progress and eliminate the need for imports.
He hailed the production of such sheets as a source of honor and said it is a key step toward indigenization and self-sufficiency in the industry which constructs tankers for carrying, storing and distributing LPG.
