IMIDRO chairman: Sangan Steel contributes to sustainable development, economic boom
Deputy Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Dr. Khodadad Gharibpour, who also serves as chairman of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation (IMIDRO), Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development Dr. Khademi, Managing Director of Mobarakeh Steel Company Hamidreza Azimian, Dr. Mahmoud Negahban Salami, who represents Khaf in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Shamsian, the Friday payer leader of Khaf, together with a number of Khaf officials and investors based in Sangan paid a visit to Sangan Steel Plants.
Afterwards, the deputy minister expressed pleasure over measures taken as part of Sangan steel project so far and said full implementation of the project is bound to contribute to the country’s sustainable development and economic boom. He expressed hope inauguration, next year, of the plant that will produce as much as 5 million tons of concentrates on a yearly basis will contribute to regional growth as well as to sustainable development in the region and the industry sector as a whole.
According to the correspondent of Steel Newsletter, during the visit, the MSC managing director hailed as valuable an IMIDRO approach that allows investors to tap iron ore reserves in the region and said at meetings attended by Dr. Gharibpour and other officials, government was assigned to take on an observer role when it came to investor activity in order to keep an eye on supply of iron ore needed by units authorized to operate in the region. “This decision will be instrumental in the growth and development of concentrate-making facilities.”
Hamidreza Azimian described the inspection tour as a positive move and said the visit and the meetings attended by MPs and local and provincial officials during the visit, will certainly play a role in advancing the region's goals. It also shows that with closer coordination, projects under way in Sangan will be better managed.
He thanked the management and staff members of Sangan and said: “God willing, on the back of round-the-clock efforts of the management of this complex, the largest concentrate-making facility in eastern Iran will open in 2019 to produce 5 million tons of concentrates on a yearly basis.”
During the course of the tour, Mohsen Mir-Mohammadi, the managing director of Sangan Mining Industries Co. (SMIC) offered detailed explanation on the concentrate project and others in the region and said with the support of top management at MSC the project will make more and more progress. Sangan Mining Industries Co. seeks to see through the project later in 2019 or in early 2020 so that the region can see balanced, multifaceted growth, he said.
He further stated that thanks to the support of the MSC managing director, a special plan is under way to achieve the target of producing 5 million tons of concentrates as soon as possible.
