The affixation of the CE mark on the products consumed by the EU members enables the manufacturer to get confirmed in terms of compliance with requirements inserted in the relevant directives for the distribution of the cargo. It is applied not only to the structural steel products, but also to the machineries, electrical equipment, medical and electromagnetic devices which are to be used in the European Community Area.
Not only this mark is mandatory in the 27 EU members, central European free trade agreement countries in Europe have also mandated that marking in pursuit of joining the EU.
The most important goal of the CE marking is to assure the consumer so the conformity of the products with the requirements mentioned in the EU countries, so obtaining this marking means that the holder can sell its products without limits into the EU countries.
Steel products used in the microstructures of the buildings and in the construction sector such as engineering structures, roads and bridges, mostly in the form of hot-rolled structural products produced under EN 10025-2004 standards. Compliance with the Construction Products Directive (CPD) and winning the CE marking guarantees penetration into the European Union and selling products to be used in these countries, as well as the countries in Europe that require the CE marking. Esfahan's Mobarakeh Steel Company achieved this marking in 2007, following strict assessments made by external assessments on January 11 2008, in order to maintain its share in the strategically important EU market, since any exportation of hot-rolled steel products to the EU members from 2006 on depends on the products’ compliance with the EN 10025-2004 standards in accordance with the CPD directives.
